This is another excellent book, just released this year, incorporating some of the most recent research about emotions in an accessible and often entertaining way – occasionally this book made me laugh out loud. The author has written many other terrific books, and has also written episodes of Star Trek and helped Stephen Spielberg and Robin Williams make a video game! He’s not your typical academic writer, although he clearly knows his stuff!
This book should sit on your bookshelf right alongside Lisa Feldman Barret’s book on How Emotions are Made. The book is in three parts: (1) What is emotion, (2) Pleasure, motivation, inspiration, determination, and (3) Emotional tendencies and control. In the last section, I found the content on your emotional profile (and the included questionnaires) very useful.
